Cute & Safe
You can trim your cat's nails, supply scratching posts, cover your furniture with plastic and still you have cat-scratching problems. What to do? Declaw? Most people are looking for alternatives to this procedure and nail caps are the effective and humane alternative to declawing.
What makes them so great?
Most importantly... They really work. GentleClaws™ effectively blunt the nails so virtually no damage occurs when cats scratch. They protect furniture, screens, drapes and more.
They also protect humans against scratches. Seniors, young children and those particularly sensitive to cat scratches can interact with their cats without the worry of being scratched.
Economical - Each kit lasts approximately 3-6 months. At this special price it's an inexpensive way to protect your loved ones and belongings.
Comfy for cats - Most cats don't even realize they are wearing them. They are safe and non-toxic and can be used long term without any negative effects.
Easy to apply - Just add a few drops of the included adhesive to each cap and slide over the nail.
Fashion bonus - GentleClaws™ come in a variety of colors (including clear) so you can keep it simple or be creative with color combinations.

XS - Kitten : (less than 6 months old about 5 pounds / 2.5 kg)
Soft Cat Nail Caps will fit most kittens by the time they reach the age of 16 weeks (4 months). Some kittens can wear them as early as age 12 weeks (3 months). To test, try a nail cap on first without the adhesive. If it looks too big, don't glue it on. The nail cap should fit snugly, like a glove. To accommodate younger kittens, you can trim the base of the nail cap making it smaller so it will fit your kitten's nail. Kittens up to about 5 pounds / 2.5kg and/or 5 months generally fit the kitten size.
S - Small : (approximately 6 months old-approximately 6-8 pounds 2.5-4 kg)
Some kittens at 5 months may need the small size if they are growing fast or are large-breed cats. Small-boned adult cats often wear the small size. If your cat seems smaller than an average full-grown cat, choose small.
M - Medium : (approximately 9-13 pounds 4-6 kg)
Most adult average size cats wear medium.
L - Large : (approximately 14 pounds 6kg and up )
Very large-boned and large-breed cats wear large. Maine Coons, for example, are very large cats and generally wear large.
What are GentleClaws™?
GentleClaws™ are an excellent alternative to declawing. They are easy to apply at home, and cats and their owners love them. They are completely safe and humane and can be used on cats of all ages. GentleClaws™ are plastic nail caps that are glued on to your cat's existing nails. They look like a cat's nail, only hollow. They are easy to apply and cats tolerate them extremely well.
How are GentleClaws™ applied?
GentleClaws™ are easy to apply. Simply fill the nail cap with the adhesive provided, and slide it on over your cat's claw. The glue dries very fast.
How long do they last, and how often do they need to be reapplied?
Once the nail caps are applied, they remain in place for approximately 4-6 weeks. They will fall off with the natural growth of your cat's nails. We recommend that you check your cat's nails periodically because usually just one or two fall off at a time, and these can easily be reapplied. Each kit contains 60 nail caps so one kit will last approximately 4-6 months per cat.
Are GentleClaws™ safe, and do they hurt the cat?
GentleClaws™ are completely safe, painless, and non-toxic for cats. Even if they are swallowed, they will not cause a problem for your cat. They just pass on through the digestive system. Even the dried glue is entirely harmless because it becomes inert, or chemically inactive, as it dries in place.
Can cats still extend and retract their claws while wearing GentleClaws™?
Absolutely. GentleClaws™ are designed so that they won't interfere with the normal extension and retraction of cats' claws.
Cats extend and retract their claws by flexing and extending a tendon, much like when you extend your ankle to point your toe. The nail does not retract into a sheath, even though that is how it might appear. GentleClaws™ nail caps are thicker and blunter than your cat's nails, so they are more visible than the nails normally are. If a colored nail cap is used, it is even more visible. Cats' nails are thin at the ends, so they are difficult to see normally unless they are extended.
Will GentleClaws™ interfere with my cat's normal scratching and stretching behavior?
No. Your cat can still stretch and make scratching motions, however no damage will occur to your furniture because the claw is effectively covered and protected.
Can I apply GentleClaws™ myself?
Absolutely. Most people apply the nail caps themselves. Some enlist the help of a friend or family member. This is a good idea at first if you are not used to handling your cat alone.
If you can trim your cat's claws, you can apply the nail caps.
Sometimes it helps to place your cat in your lap, facing away from you, so he or she can't back up. Some cats don't mind being wrapped in a towel so you can remove one paw at a time to apply the nail caps.
How do I know what size GentleClaws™ my cat needs?
Please visit our size chart. You can use this to determine what size your cat will use.GentleClaws™ come in the following sizes: extra-small, small, medium, and large.
Most average-sized cats wear medium nail caps. If your cat is very small-boned, choose the small size. Very large-boned cats tend toward the large GentleClaws™ size. Kittens are usually big enough to wear kitten-sized GentleClaws™ by 12-16 weeks of age.
Note: If your cat is overweight, this does not necessarily mean that he or she is a large-boned cat. To determine claw size, examine your cat's paws.
What if I select the wrong size?
No problem. When you receive your package, first take one of the nail caps out and try it on your cat's Paws without the glue. It should fit like a glove. If the nail cap is slightly too large, you may trim the open end of the nail cap until it fits snugly. Or, you may send it back and we will exchange it for another size. Do not open the glue and make sure all components are present, in new condition, for return. Be sure to send it in a padded mailer so it remains in new condition.
What about the different colors?
GentleClaws™ come in a variety of colors. After choosing the appropriate size for purchase, you may select from the available colors.
Can cats get infections from GentleClaws™ like humans can from acrylic nails?
No. Cats' claws are completely different from humans' nails. Cats shed the outer sheaths of their claws periodically. You have probably seen these remnants around your cat's scratching post (or your couch). The same thing happens when they are wearing GentleClaws™. The nail cap comes off with the normal shedding of the outer nail sheath. This prevents the possibility of infection.
Can GentleClaws™ be used on a cat's rear claws?
Yes. Because cats often keep their rear nails short on their own by biting them and they do most of the damage to furniture by actively scratching it with their front claws, you may not need to apply GentleClaws™ to your cat's rear claws. However, the nail caps can be used on the back claws if desired, and there are a couple of situations when it might be a good idea.
Applying GentleClaws™ to the hind claws will help prevent damage from cats jumping on and off furniture. Also, many people have used GentleClaws™ on the hind claws of cats that have skin problems and scratch themselves excessively. The nail caps help decrease or prevent self-inflicted damage in these instances.
Should GentleClaws™ only be used on indoor cats?
Yes. GentleClaws™ should only be used on indoor cats because a cat's defenses will be blunted while wearing them. Cats that go outdoors should not wear GentleClaws™.
What should I do if the GentleClaws™ stay on longer than six weeks?
Normally the nail caps will fall off with the natural growth of the cat's nails. But, some cats (actually very few) don't shed their nails as rapidly as other cats and the nail caps don't fall off on their own. If this occurs, all that needs to be done is to trim the very tip of the nail cap. This will help break the adhesive seal and the nail caps should fall off.
Can GentleClaws™ be used on ferrets, rabbits and iguanas?
Yes. GentleClaws™ work great on ferrets, rabbits and iguanas. Use the following guidelines for sizing:
Ferrets: Use extra small size. Rabbits: Use GentleClaws™ for dogs, size small. Iguanas: One foot and less (not including tail) will probably wear extra small. Over a foot will probably use GentleClaws™ for dogs, size small. These caps may need to be trimmed at the base so they are shorter to provide a better fit. The best accepted color for iguanas is black.
